How things become part of routines

Carl May and others have developed a theory that explains how complex interventions get to be part of the routine work of complex systems.

While initially motivated by the need to implement tele-medicine in the established health systems, this theory, called the Normalization Process Theory, is robust enough that we can use NPT to illuminate ourĀ  understanding of the processes that hinder or promote the normalization of treatment programs in the daily routines of patients.
